I am looking into diesel fuel additives that target the diesel injections system.
Specifically for gumming up or the tips/ things like that.

Several people have recommended Liqui Moly products.

I have been looking into their Pro-Line Diesel Injection Cleaner.

This is for a 2007 e320 Bluetec, common rail, piezo-electric injectors, and a dpf, 147k miles.

It claims it can be run straight, or added to the end of a tank, or mixed in with a fill. If its not complete [censored], would adding it to a low tank increase possible cleaning ability?

Any experience with this specific product, or recommendations for other related products.

In Denmark where i live. It is normal practice To use it at every service. The system cleaner is simply handed to the customer when he or her picks up the car.

This has greatly reduced bad fuel system parts(mostly injectors) and failed MOT's due to high pollution.

Liqui moly is used a lot, and all liqui moly products are considered high quality, though I have not tried that exact product myself. Most used here is something called Bell add. But I don,t know if you can buy that in the US.

If it is safe for PDF,s or not, is normally written on the product. I believe almost all of them are.

Does one just wait for the fuel level in the tank to get low, and then just add it into the tank when the reserve light goes on?
The fuel filter wont catch any of the product, will it?

or is this the only method: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/technical-stuff/63226-how-use-diesel-injection-cleaner-undiluted.html ?

You just wait till it,s time to fill
The tank. Pour in in the tank and fill it up like usual. Normally one bottle botlle is good for 80 litres of diesel. However you practically cannot overdose it. so if you only got a 60 or even 40 litre tank it is still fine with the whole bottle.

Let's say you got some problem your trying to cure. It could be rough idle, noise injectors, high pollution or bad performance. You can easily add 2 bottles without a problem or run it for several fillings.

And no none of it will end up in the fuel filter.

On the older OM (Oil Motor)Non-Direct Injection Mercedes Diesel engines the procedure is to use the "Diesel Purge"container as a "Mini Fuel Tank" [Which meant using the most concentrated
un-diluted Liqui-Moly Diesel Purge possible, due to cost and effectiveness AND you couldn't
"Over-Treat" or "Use Too Much" (I.E. Running the Engine on "Straight" LM DP couldn't hurt
Anything!)]
Here's a link to LM's DIY how to:
http://www.liqui-moly.com.au/diy-diesel-injector-service/
Howeveah! I can see how this procedure will be a little more complicated for the Modern CDI
OM s (Seems Like Nothing is ever "Made Easier" for the DIY Motorist)
LM DP has an excellent reputation worldwide.

Apparently: LM ALSO makes a DPF cleaning Kit (They Obviously market this to Professionals.
BUT no reason you can't DIY.)
Link to their instructional video:

AND,a video explaining Diesel Particulate Filters + The "Regeneration Cycle"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNO-oUHmKXU

from what I gather the "Regeneration Cycle" for the DPF is supposed to be Like running the "Cleaning" cycle on your "Self Cleaning Oven"...Kinda Sorta.

(I'm simply an "Older Dinosaurus" when it comes to MB Diesels [Still stuck in the 1990's])
"Less Is More" For Me.
(I can "See" an OM606 turbo with fully Mechanical Injection Pump [VS the Electo-Controlled]
AND you'd have to finagle the Tranny to get "There" Too,BUT both of those have been done.)

To be totally Transparent:
In the DPF explanation Video You Are watching an Amsoil rep training seminar.

I used to and still do have reservations about Amsoil's marketing systema.

BUT,they still make available a Fully Synthetic MARINE Rated
4 stroke oil [FC-W} in a 10W40 viscosity.
