Cause of tire noise

Tires are flexible... and reasonably tough. I am surprised how few impact failures there actually are, given the state of many roads.

Give the tire a good inspection, look for lumps or bulges or cracks... if you don't see anything, and the tire runs smooth, and quiet... as in no whump whump whump sound... the tire is probably ok.
 
It was the bearing. Actually, both front wheel bearings were worn out, so the curb incident may not have had anything to do with it.

The tire doesn't show any sign of damage, no bulges on tread or sidewall.

About $440 to do both sides. Not great, but could be worse.
