1. It's UOA, not UAO.

2. Please post all UOAs in the UOA subforum, not here.

Are you sure that fuel % is correct? Very high, but I have to say wear looks great. I really like the 2.4 GDi engine. They wear very nicely. I use M1 0w40 and it runs very smoothly.

In the first UOA fuel dil was 6.2, in the second UOA it is 1%.
I did ask for TBN and TAN too. Im running the blend now in my other 2009 Sonata 2.4.
My plan is to run the oil now for 20 000kms.

Almost 9k miles?? Not a chance in h3ll I would do that. Then again, on a non perf car.... and you don't "run" it.... I dunno.

plus you want to run it to 12K?

Based upon your posted results, this oil should be fine for 14K Ks in your car as you use it.
What lab did you use?
I find the change in fuel dilution between the two UOAs a little hard to believe.

The lab I'm using is Toromont in Toronto Ontario. The fuel dilution difference does worry me a bit. Most of my driving was during the winter, short trips.

I want to try 20 000km at least once and then do a UOA just to see the results.
If the UOA results are still good at 20 000kms, I will keep the intervals at 15 000kms as a safety measure.

It would be intersting to see how you other car does on QSUD for 14K.
I'd bet there wouldn't be much difference.
What concerns me about the fuel is that there is so much difference between the two samples, although winter short trips would lead to higher fuel dilution.
Was this engine ever run on an oil with a sodium based add pack?
Sodium levels look kind of high and don't change much between these two UOAs, and potassium is seen as well.

A great dual report. Thanks for posting.

The high fuel level in the second test I suspect is an error.
P and Zn levels are lower than expected.

Yes you could easily run this oil out to 16,000kms if not 18,000kms.

Nice. Thanx for sharing!

What were the conditions for the two oil changes? For example was the first one done after a short trip or idled before it was drained?

I think Caterham's blend is pretty decent stuff!

CATERHAM, what do you think about the TBN and TAN numbers?
Does it look ok for you?

My other Sonata 2.4L also have this blend which I plan to run till 20 000kms.
At 15 000km and 20 000kms I will do a UOA with both TBN and TAN to chk the condition of the oil.

The first UOA was just after the winter, maybe the reason for the high fuel dilution of 6.2.
With the second UOA . I did a few long trips before draining the oil.
I also think the first fuel dilution number is an error.
