I opened my valve cover twice during the first few thousand miles of my OCI to check the valve clearances and also to replace my spark plug tube seals. I used a dab of Hondabond (white high-temp silicon) on the cam corners as per the service manual's recommendation. I'd assume that I introduced some silicon and/or dirt by doing this. I'm using Amsoil ASL 5W30 and an Amsoil EaO20 which was only on for about a month before doing this. Since then, it's been about 3 months. My question was this: Is it possible for my Amsoil EaO to catch the introduced silicon from the air/dust/hondabond over time, or am I going to need to change the oil in order for it not to skew my used oil analysis results? If all I'm going to see is elevated silicon on my used oil analysis, I wouldn't see a point in getting one done this time around... Thanks in advance!

The silicon readings is in "dissolved" form (not "insoluables") and unless it's extremely high in readings, otherwise, a dab of HOndabond (or in my case, Permatex RTV for imports/grey RTV) elevated the silicone reading in your oil isn't something to loose sleep with.
I would simply drive and be happy with it until the next intended scheduled oil change.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure because I'm OCD about my car. I planned on running it for 6 months and changing it when the weather gets a little warmer. I have about 4,600 miles on it so far, and a little over 4 months.

You may see elevated silicon ..but you've got an explanation for it. You may have allowed some contamination to enter the lube side of the engine ..but unless it was a chunk of something that managed to get to a bearing surface, you're not going to see the combustion side elevated metals that one associates with silicon. No sand blasting of aluminum and whatnot. Just note "gasket sealer used" on your sheet when sending it in ...or let Terry know about it if you're using Dyson Analysis.
I think I might just change it at 6 months, then run another run of Amsoil and get that run analyzed without having any valve cover removal, and save myself the money

The 2nd OCI is always better for used oil analysis anyways. Leftovers of prior brands generally remain when doing used oil analysis after the first OCI.
Does your engine seem noisier with Amsoil ASL? Mine does - similar to when I ran Mobil 1. It's bugging me every time I hear the vehicle run. I purchased enough for one more OCI - but I may switch to Amsoil XLM afterwards - or give Schaeffers or Red Line a try.
Lastly, how much did that filter cost you?

Nope, sounds/feels the exact same as the Valvoline and Havoline I've ran before. The filter was around $15, if I remember right.
