I see that this 15w40 oil is on sale at my local Tractor Supply for $11.99 a jug. Is this oil any good? I have never used Castrol, except for GC Castrol on my old Honda just one time.

Currently using Rotella 15w40 and Valvoline Blue 15w40 on a pretty regular basis....but know nothing about this Castrol.

The price seems good, but should I wait and buy the Rotella, VPB, or Delo when it goes on sale? The store only has a few jugs of this Castrol left.....

BTW: I would be using this in my two vehicles which have older inline 6's (1991 Jeep and a 1951 GMC).

I typed up a "highly recommend" reply based on my use but then I remembered I was using tection extra semi syn. I can say the semi syn gave me superb results. Sorry I haven't tried the dino.

Castrol Tection Extra is a fine product.

I have used it a few times and had no ill effects; it's every bit as capable as Delo, Delvac or Rotella (the big three) and VPB.

Ironic in that many folks swear by GTX PCMO and love the Edge products, but TE seems condemned to a secondary status, for no real reason. Perhaps it's the odd coincidence that their marketing money goes into PCMOs and not HDEOs ... ????

It's kind of odd at our Walmarts (or everywhere else that sells oil). They always have huge selections of Castrol products, including their GTX HDEO and their commercial HDEOs (conventional and the blend).
