This is a follow up post.
I decided to try this ATF out in my dad's 04' matrix when i pulled the dipstick and saw the fluid was a semi-dark brown color.
I drained and dropped the trans pan only to find the whole pan was filled with sludge.
(to my knowledge the trans filter has never been replaced on this car and it's sitting on 150K mi...He let the local valvoline shop do a trans flush at 100K but they don't change the filters...and my dad believes that the ATF can go 100K between changes)
So after dropping the pan and showing him the sludge he has a new mindset and is going to 30K change intervals now for the fluid and filter. (sticking with the HM castrol and a purolator trans filter till the day the car dies)
RESULTS: the HM castrol ATF is providing a much smoother shift and the transmission is much more responsive now when going up steep hills.

No Toyota automatic transmission/axle has a filter in them.

Not sure where you got this info.
But I did pull off a filter and put a new one back in.
