PP is a much better oil than Castrol Syntec.

PP meets more OEM specs, has superior deposit control and a higher Tbn.

Buster's comments would settle the case for me.

My Yaris requires an SM-spec oil. That's it. If it requires some kind of special spec., you shouldn't even bother purchasing the vehicle.

I'll add that even after Ontario's tax-grab (pardon me: 20 cent "eco fee") on top of the regular taxes, it's $20.56. That buys me an extra jug of CS over PP. THAT says enough.

By the way, I stopped at five jugs. The line-up was getting pretty [censored] at the one-purchase-at-a-time-coupon-dealie.

I am lost. The sale price is almost $23 as opposed to your $20.56 with taxes. How did that happen????? Where is this price from?

As for 5W20 they are always 20%-30% more expensive at CT. Usually there is less choice/quantity as well.

The five-dollar- coupon that was available online until a short while ago when they pulled it. The catch is that it you could only purchase one at a time with it.

($22.99 - $5.00 = $18.99)

I just picked CS over PP because of over $8 difference.

same here, is Syntec that bad? i need to find a old topic and maybe wake it up for some question...

Not that bad, but not that great. Oils are very close in performance until you get into the synthetics that have to meet certain specifications for high performance cars or extended drains.
