BP owns Castrol ,
Anyone believe we will be paying more for Castrol Products ?
since this Gulf Area oil spill,
the Law siuts are just starting, surely the amounts
are going to be many millions $...

Castrol is already more expensive than most oils, if BP raises price of Castrol they will lose market shares to Shell, Valvoline ...

They will take a one time hit for the total bill. Operations will continue as before. Their stock will tank for a few days ..it will be a good time to buy.

When EXXON was hit with a $5B (iirc) bill for the clean up their stock took a $5 hit for all of a day or two. Those liquid enough bought DEEP ..and cashed in when it returned to market resistance levels.

Agreed.

OMG what a disaster! "No one wants oily shrimp". Fasten your seat belts. Gas goes up. Unemployment. Stocks go down.

Crash???

BP had a net income of 16.5 billion last year, sure they are scared, but why would they price themselves out when they need customers the most?

Castrol is already overpriced. I have quit buying it for the wife's vehicle and will replace it with Havoline when my stash runs out. BP would be nuts to raise prices any more.

At least around here, BP is doing well in the bulk quick-lube market - lots of places do 'Castrol GTX oil changes', and there are a lot of QL's up here.
