Recently sent another oil analysis after running 2 OCI with Castrol Maganatec.
No huge noticeable differences, Iron is down on a little longer OCI.
Boron depletion, & Fuel Dilution were flagged at Lower Critical.
Viscosity was within range on last 2 samples submitted, & they didn't do a GC Fuel Dilution test on them, so Fuel dilution may have been present on past sample as well.

Noticed that AGAT labs doesn't list Titanium additive on oil analysis

The PDF shows 247214 as being the last sample and.having a fuel percentage of 3.2%. I am assuming I'm reading that correctly. That appears reasonable for a 3.5EB

I notice the report says you didn't change the oil. Are you going to change at 10,000 km?

The only thing I can find on Borate EP depletion list it as caused by water contamination which causes it to precipitate out forming a sludge in the bottom of the pan which may not drain out or especially not be picked up by sampling via port or dipstick tube.

Not saying this is the case here. Just can't find any other reasons listed.

When I first bought my '18 3.5l EcoBoost, I read a fair amount here from a few prolific posters re: Magnatec being the oil for this engine. I looked all over for it, but have only seen it once in my travels between 3 different cities.

The one place I had found it, had two 5L jugs at $30 CAD each.

Then after comparing Magnatec UOAs with many other UOAs I found for the engine I realized that it was inline with the others and not some magic sauce.

I'd certainly give it a try if I could find a ready supply for the same price I found PP and RGT on regular sales. Oddly enough, Edge is moderately more than Magnatec in my neck of the woods and it can be found.

Either way, thanks for posting the UOA

From what I've seen the vehicles that have used both tend to get less shearing on Edge but either way Castrol seems to have these TGDI Engines figured out.

EDGE does show very good viscosity control even in fuel diluting engines.

Thanks for the comparison, both oils did well.

Castrol Magnatec always seems to punch above it’s weight class.

Here is a link to a recent Magnatec 5W30 VOA for comparison
