I see that Castrol recommends both their Import MV and High Mileage ATF's for both Toyota T-IV and Honda Z-1 applications. I know that many fluids have been used successfully in T-IV apps but Hondas seem more particular. Has anybody experience using either of these fluids in either of these applications? I'm particularly interested in the Castrol High Mileage since I can get it for $3 a quart right now.

2001 Honda Accord with the BAXA (problematic) A/T.
I have 101K on the original A/T with a Magnafine filter installed inline. I also use LG red to try and keep this A/T in good shape. I have only used Honda Z-1 up until now but I will probably try others now that the extended warranty is over.

wifes 01 Lexus RX-300(4spd auto) requiring Toyota T-IV,
my 04 Nissan Altima 2.5S(4spd auto) requiring Nissan Matic-D,
daughters 06 Mazda3i 2.0(4spd auto) requiring Mazda M-V
neices' 05 Civic LX(5spd auto) requiring Honda Z-1
All are doing well since the Castrol IMV ATF was installed 5-6 months ago.

I've heard that the Castrol Import MV works well in many applications and I wouldn't hesitate to use it in either my Honda or Toyota. It's their High Mileage ATF (in the green bottle) that I'm wondering about since it also lists itself as a replacement for T-IV and Z-1.
It doesn't seem like many people have tried it in these applications.

I'd stick with the Honda Z-1 for the Honda. I put Amsoil and Mobil 1 in my wife's TSX (by just doing a change every 10K....not a complete flush) and it developed a howl. The howl was worse with Mobil 1 (the transmission holds 7+ qts and only 3 qts comes out when the plug is pulled....I was changing 3 qts every 10K).
I did a complete flush now back to Honda genuine Z-1 and it seemed better. Time will tell. I've read on Honda forum's the honda ATF is a special formulation and there is no decent alternative if you want the transmission to last.

Probably similar to IMV but, with the exception of more anti-ware addatives and seal swellers...Do you need any of these extra benefits? Or is it just because you can get the HM for less money than IMV? Im not sure that I understand! I recently bought the shelf of IMV at PB's, 2/$5(26qts)

I hear what you are saying. I've used both in the past with no problems. Did the first drain and fill with amsoil (not a complete flush) and there was a slight howl at 75 mph. 10K later, did the same with amsoil and was slightly louder. 10K later, did a drain and fill with Mobil 1 and the howl got louder (to the annoying point) and the transmission would hesitate to upshift on occasion when accelerating and then letting totally off the gas while going down a slight grade (or a big grade).
I went and read on some honda and TSX forums to stick with Honda brand Z-1. One forum had info that the Honda formulation does have something unique. I went and did a complete flush (drain and refill 3 times) and the upshifting problem went away. The howl is still there, though a little quieter. Time will tell.
