Mobil Clean 5000 oil is I belive CC or CF rated, as well as SM. It has a 'stronger add pack' that makes it possible to meet light duty diesel oil specifications. One of the things that characterizes a diesel oil is it usually has a higher level of detergents in it to combat the by-products of diesel operation.
The new 'sludge-fighting' formulation of Castrol GTX 5w30 and 10w30 uses a new add pack that features a lot more calcium detergent - around 2000-2200 ppm's, vs. around 1500-1700 ppm's for regular conventional oils. Also, Castrol advertises that its oil are tougher and stay in grade longer - they resist shear better than other oils. So, with a higher detergent count, and a tough, anti-shear formulation, shouldn't Castrol GTX be able to meet the light duty diesel specifications that Mobil Clean 5000 can?
