Castrol Edge?

Does Edge clean as well as PP or Ultra?

I was just curious because I read somewhere that Castrol products do not clean as well as some other motor oils. Thanks.

Seriously though, I don't think there have been any scientific studies performed to compare these oils when it comes to cleaning. They're all good oils, but if you need serious cleaning, then you may have to resort to dedicated cleaning products, not just engine oils alone.

Maybe not for you... But I was just courious if anyone knew. I do know that Edge, PP and Ultra are very good syn oils.

I'm still waiting to see some scientific evidence for the claim that PP and PU clean "better" than other synthetics. I'm not arguing that they DO clean well, but frankly its just their advertising that says they're any BETTER than M1, Edge, or you-name-it.

I agree, and it proves that their advertising works very well.

I began running Pennzoil Ultra in my Corolla last summer after two to three intervals of Castrol Edge. As I was draining out my second run of the Ultra, I noticed a film of sludge-like goo on the bottom of the oil pan that I drained the used oil into. For me this was a first hand demonstration of the cleaning abilities of the PU after two to three intervals of Edge. It definitely made a believer out of me in regard to PU's abilities. Maybe there really is some truth to Pennzoil's marketing!

How do you know the sludge you noticed wasn't produced by PU? After all, you made two runs with it.

hmmmm is the tide swinging in here, seems the pp lovers are dwindling and edge is coming up in the ranks. Which one has more calcium ?
