Which would u guys think is better for a yr. long OCI for my Mazda6s, Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w20, or Edge w Titanium 0w20. I live in S.FL, and have been using the M1 up til now, but am thinking of switching to the Edge. Thx.

the new castrol is just cheapened really.. not improved.
it also has a terrible VI, the 0w20 is 163??
so if the prices are similar stay with Mobil 1 Extended Performance
I am using the castrol only because of an oil deal with rebate.. that made it 2$/qt

The M1 has been working out fine for me so far, so i might as well just keep it for my yearly OCI.

I would not be so quick to dismiss the Edge Gold 0w20. I Love the old stuff but the new stuff seems to be very good. I prefer either one that is on sale because neither is "better" than the other. Both great oils.

Ultra-low temp performance? The M1 is definitely better, with an industry leaving MRV.
low temp performance? The M1 is definitely better, as it has a higher VI.
If they both meet the same certs and approvals, they likely will protect the same at operating temp as well.

Yes you are right overkill, if you live in the arctic circle Mobil 1 0w20 is better but the OP lives in south Fl. so those specs really don't mean a thing. I'd say both are good synthetic oils so I'd get what ever is the lowest in price although it'll vary by pennies. As far as the weight is concerned I'd check what Mazda wants you to use. The 0W-20 I never tried before and usually would stay with a 5W.

I can't say how much by the jug....all I know is by the quart which is how I buy my oils. Also remember in California everything is higher. Like I say at at work "everyone goes for a ride".

I bought the Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w20 34.99 oil and filter deal at AAP the other day. That seems to be the best price on this oil at the moment. I do yearly OCI's anyway, so at that price it's worth it.
