I checked the oil on the taurus after about 1200 miles into the OCI. I bought it BOGO at APP. I was VERY surprised with what I saw. The dipstick had a dark staining to it but no varnish, I checked it now and it was almost completely gone where the oil is! I was very surprised and impressed. So far, Castrol Edge with Ti 0w-20 gets my

It's perspective, I was holding it up so it looks huge.

Thanks for posting, have you looked down the fill hole at all? Curious if anything looks different there as well. Does it run quiet for you?

I have the Edge FST in 5w20 ready to go in our KIA next week, also thanks to AAP's BOGO sale.

There's a difference between a stain/discoloration and a hard film that I call varnish.

Different chemistries will clean different types of deposits than others. I'm really beginning to believe that perhaps rotating oil brands will keep an engine cleaner than just a single brand, due to the competing of the adds.
Just a theory

How are you guys not seeing the dipstick in the pic???? It's going across right in the middle of the picture.

took me about 3 mins to find it..

My Dad had the exact same car with the Vulcan-great little engine-decent torque and mileage. Got totalled though

It's so out of focus, it might as well not even be there. You might try placing it down on a white paper towel. This should help with the focus since both the dipstick and the towel will be at just about the same distance from the camera and you'll also have a non-busy/non-distracting background.

Pretty sure my phone doesn't have that option. Must be showing up different than my phone is showing.
