Castrol Edge - U.S.?

The local BMW stealership just advised me they have changed from Mobil 1 0W40 after many many years (no XW30 rubbish for BMW in Oz) to Castrol Edge 0w40 for all petrol (gasoline) cars. No explanation why. All the indys still use Mobil 1 0W40.

Just saw this stuff at oriley, is it any good? how does it compair to Pennzoil Platinum?

I don't, for the life of me, understand what the difference is between this oil, and regular Castrol Syntec 5w30 and 10w30, which are 9.7cst and 10.0cst respectively.

Mind you, I DO like the cold-temp numbers - those are great!!!
