I use Castrol Edge EP in certain vehicles, and I've noticed lately that there is none on the shelves at the local Walmart, Advance AP or AutoZone; it is still available via Walmart.com. Any thoughts from the group as to why it seems to have disappeared? It is good oil; essentially Castrol Edge Professional without the dye.

Thanks.

Still at my local WM. It is a bit outdated, though. It is not spec’d for SN+ or Dexos1 gen2.

Castrol is not very popular here on bitog (excluding 0W-40), let alone Castrol EP. I think I’ve seen one UOA of it in the last few months.

Thanks. Guess it hasn’t made ya way to the shelves yet (as of last week). No d1g2, though?

The regular Edge 0W-20 is already labelled Dexos 1 Gen 2 so I don't know why their top-end offering the Edge EP would not also be.

SN+ is a newer standard then Dexos 1 Gen 2. The previous Edge Professional 5W-30 that was replaced by Edge EP is licensed Dexos 1 Gen 2 but not SN+ -- since SN+ has only been out for a few months. I would be surprised if Castrol took a step backwards with the EP.

Engine oil yes, but transmax atf is up there with maxlife on here. They have some decent gear oils, too iirc.
