So picked me up 5.1 qt. of Castrol Edge and 1 qt. for my oil change. Noticed the quart bottle was the Older Castrol Syntec, I can't imagine it's a lot different than the Castrol Edge and do you think I should just get 1 qt. of Castrol Edge instead. I can't see where there would be any issues, but I'm the type of guy that like to keep the same oil in my fills. It is the same brand, not sure if it was just re-badged with a different name or the add pack is slightly different.

Add pack is different but it is totally compatible. The new Syntec looks good from the few used oil analysis I have seen. Fine lube, especially when it is on sale!

Castrol is out to confuse with the Edge and Syntec names. Its easier to refer to it as Gold bottle or Black bottle. The Gold is claimed to have better additives to fight wear. Castrol famously quotes a specific wear test (I believe the cam followers on a Nissan engine) and they quote 5 times better than M1 ??

Try to get the oil change special deals, Syntec is usually offered with a top of the line filter, maybe a K&N, its hard to keep the specials straight in the old grey noggin.

It was 24.69 at Meijers compared to Mobil 1 Advanced Syn for 26.99, I usually run Mobil 1, but I have no problem with Castrol either, I seen the used oil analysis on this stuff, I'm like what I see so far for everyone else, so I'm going to go ahead and try it. I thought I be fine with the Castrol Syntec 1 qt I accidentally picked up instead of the edge, but I want to do a used oil analysis and I don't want any second thoughts on oil analysis, I want to compare apple to apple. Thanks for the Info.

I change my own oil. I did get a deal at Meijers store on Castrol Edge, so I went ahead an bought it. Usually I buy Mobil not that I 100% brand loyal, but I bought Mobil more times than not. I do see that Chrysler MS-6395 spec is not on Mobil and my car is still under warranty, it states in my owners manual to use a API Certified oil with the rating, but I used Mobil EP and Mobil Advanced Synthetic for over 20 plus thousand miles so far, I'm sure it's no big deal anyway.
