Castrol EDGE 8 X better Wear Protection than Mobil

Why do all you XOM supporters feel that Ashlands or Castrols data is not accurate. Why is it so hard for you to believe that there might actually be something better. I'd think you'd be jumping all over a product that is even better then the sacred cow known as Mobil 1. And Mobil even dumbed down the product after the Castrol lawsuit.
Valvoline has been very open about its testing and has all documentation to prove it. Yet XOM refuses to respond.
I'll wait to see what Castrol has to say as well, and what proof it offers up in terms of test results.
Mobil being the behemoth it is has had more then adequate time to respond to this.

I bet that Pennzoil will be next to jump on the bandwagon and then we will see Mobil-1 come back with some sort of answer... Not sure why they are sitting quietly, unless they are waiting for all the major players to have their say and then be crushed by Mobil's comeback?

Funny I was thinking the same exact thing. We could always place some wagers on who the next oil company will be to make a claim :). If these claims had been cutting into their sales I think you would have already seen a response. Although maybe Mobil is doing some testing of their own.

I would like to see Mobil's retort to these accusations. I'm sure it will be something to the effect of "it does not". At which point the oil company's will resort to calling each other stupid heads. Anyways, my money is on Pennzoil to be the next oil company to make some kind of claim.

Ok, I may have missed something. Is edge replacing Syntec? Is it going to be the same, or better than syntec?

Thanks guys!!

Fwiw, when PP first came out they showed a graph of the Seq IVA wear test and PP performed very well.

Edge is their top of the line Synthetic now.

Not sure... Haven't seen Edge in Canada yet, but then again I don't really visit the auto-stores that much because I have a stash of oil and I don't buy from the store I buy online from Amsoil.

I will have to have a look...

As for the claims against Mobil-1 we will have to wait and see. I don't think Mobil-1 will just ignore it, I think they are waiting to respond back with their enormous marketing power. You watch!

So if Castrol Edge is 8x better than Mobil 1
and Valvoline is 4x better than Mobil 1

=

Yup don't you just love it. What will be even funnier is if Supertech comes out a month from now and is 16x better. Everyone will have to switch to Supertech.

The more companies that use this advertising, the more it proves Mobil 1 is sub par. Supertech would be outright hilarious!

No they would be 2x better than Valvoline. 2x4 = 8

The old Pennzoil Company would not take a cheap shot at Mobil 1 just because V and C has. I have no clue what Shell will do, but I doubt they will jump on the band wagon.

I think XOM has decided that keeping quiet is in their own best interest. I don't see them seeking reparations for libel; I see them quietly reformulating their products and waiting out the storm that's brewing. Maybe hurricanes aren't the sole cause of the current Mobil 1 shortage.

I make a lot of short trips in the city and spend a lot of time idling at lights with a cold engine. I'm very interested to see how this turns out.

I was in Walmart the other day and under one of the vacant Mobil 1 shelves was some sort of correspondence from ExxonMobil. It explained the shortage was due to their supply chain being screwed up by the hurricane.

Considering the Mobil 1 brand name is a synonym for excellence in the mind of the average consumer, they must at least be worried. Not being able to get a product out to the public, coincident with it being challenged as inferior by two competitors, cannot be a high time for those in charge.

I have nothing against Mobil 1. Maybe everything that is going on right now will just lead to better and hopefully cheaper oils down the road for all of us.

Read the latest Q&A on Mobil's web site. Their supplies will be back to normal levels soon. I've noticed nearly full shelves in my area recently.
