Castrol EDGE 5w-30 engine standards

Hi Guys,

I have an 2002 Toyota Camry XLE V6 70000 miles and tried to use Castrol Edge 5w30. However the car maintenance manual recommend SL,SJ API standards. The Castrol website suggested me to get Edge or their usual synthetic. However, the actual Edge containers on the shelves does not say that it's compatible with SL,SJ standards. It only say SM/CF. Does anyone know what will happen in case I use this? I'm trying to use the best oil for my car. I have used fossil oil till 65,000 and turned to synthetic Mobil 1 until my last oil change which gave me ticking but was ok other than that. Now I'm using Castrol Syntec (not the blend). I'm considering Pennzoil Platinum also. But I'm very int interested in using Castrol Edge if it's compatible. Please give me your suggestions. Thank you everyone in advance.

Pet peeve: it is "Mobil" not "Mobile".

That Edge oil will serve you fine.

Dont worry at all,the SM covers all of the back speced oil`s.

That's because SM oil didn't exist in 2002 : ) SM is the current standard.

Sure it is,alot of the guy`s over on Club Lexus use it in the RX with very good results.Personally though,I like to stay with a thinner oil in Toyota motor`s I.E PP,or MB-1

Personally I would use the PP as it is just as good and cheaper.

Have you done the oil change yet? I would use Castrol Syntec 0w30 and nothing else.
