Where do you guys get the info on the CAS numbers on the MSDS on oils. After finding that Valv uses group 1 in their HM oils, makes me want to be a little more observant on what I purchase.
THanks in advance
Greg Harrison

Maxlife latest MSDS does not show Group I anymore.

Search the CAS number on this site and on Molakule. If he defines it, you can be pretty sure it's right.

Thanks guys for the prompt info. I think some of you sit and wait for questions from dummies such as myself.
Thank again
Greg Harrison

From the description "hydrotreated heavy paraffinic" means it is a group II or III or a mixture of both. It depends on the viscosity index.

Bruce 381 (a Lubrication Engineer) has stated that just about anything that is solvent refined is Grp I. There may be a few rare exceptions to this.

92062-09-4 ... XHVI GIII+
64742-54-7 ... GII or GIII hydroprocessed
68037-01-4 ... PAO
64742-65-0 ... GI solevent refined heavy paraffinic
64741-88-4 ... GI

Also ...I think some new numbers ...

Hydrocracked hydroisomerized Group III

178603-64-0,
178603-65-1,
178603-66-2

PAO's (Group 4 oils): 68649-12-7, 68037-01-4, 163149-29-9, 151006-63-2, 151006-62-1, 151006-60-9. VII's of +155 or greater.

Diester (Group 5 oils): 28472-97-1; VII's average +170.
