2007 F350

I quit buying new vehicles when I learned that used vehicles are a better fit for my individual finances. Today, if I had to purchase a replacement vehicle for my Wife on-line, the vehicle would be brand new Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Acura. Brand new vehicles definitely have numerous advantages.

Quite a few...The great ones which just had great driving dynamics were: 1984 Subaru Base HB 4-sp., 1990 Mazda Protoge LX 5-sp., 1992 Nissan Maxima Auto...I really wish I would have bought a new a 1994 Maxima manual on dealer's lot. Also, a really fun car was a Plymouth Colt HB 5-sp. (Mitsubishi) A much more refined version was the 2012 VW Golf Auto. 2.5 5 cylinder. Newest member in family, 2024 Jeep Wrangler 2-dr. 3.6L Auto. Hard-top. (Daughter's) Honestly, the Wrangler is a great buy considering what new cars cost these days. I want one now...but in a manual. (Never happen because we'll drive the wheels off of our 1987 Toyota Rav4 V-6 first. A Rocket w/great ride and plenty of space for cargo & passengers.)

Only one. 1973 Subaru wagon. Not to be a grumpy old man, but, Subaru had just entered the US market and did not have either a dealer or a parts network established. Loved the vehicle, but when I needed a muffler first and then a CV joint and had to wait six weeks for parts, I sold it and moved on.

2002 Acura RSX
2007 Subaru WRX
2012 Aprilia Shiver 750
2013 VW Golf GTI
2021 Toyota Corolla Hybrid
2024 VW Jetta GLI

I excluded cars my wife owned. My middle brother still drives the GTI with over 200K but it's starting to nickel and dime him so he's wanting to replace it. The Aprilia I had is an Italian V-twin naked sport bike. It was fun to ride but was unreliable and at the dealer waiting on parts during the riding season too often.

I included cars my wife drove/drives that we got since we’ve been married so I could remove some if that’s the case. I need to put a spreadsheet together to see what these cost once I account for trade ins, sales and a total loss paid by insurance.

I haven’t bought a new one just because I’m young and money is tight. My parents have only ever bought one new car and that is our 2017 Toyota Camry which now has about 91,000 on it. And before my mom met my dad she bought a brand new 1986 Ford Escort in black and ended up trading it on a used Oldsmobile in the 1990s sometime.

2014 Dodge Charger SRT
2015 Dodge Durango Limited

2019 RAM 1500 (current)
2020 Grand Cherokee SRT
2019 Audi e-tron
2020 Grand Cherokee SRT (current)

Prior to my Charger, everything we bought was used. But, making friends with the guy that owns the dealership changed our buying habits for a bit there, but we are sticking with these two for the foreseeable future (though we have looked at other vehicles, which I think is normal).
