Right, but you're overpaying for oil and it's a wash.On Advance Auto website if you bundle a synthetic 5 quart oil with the EP it breaks the filter price down quite a bit.

That Service Pro efficiency graph curve looks basically like an OG Ultra efficiency curve.Whoa. The fact that it has any significant performance at all down at 5 micron is notable. As is 96% at 10 micron. Dang. Most media falls off a cliff, relatively speaking as we're talking some truly tiny particle sizes.
The Carquest Premium (blue label) and the MicroGard Select (grey can) are their blended media 10K mile rated filters, and a step above the basic Carquest red label and MicroGard black can filters. The Carquest synthetic mesh backed "EP" (black can) is 20K mile rated. They might call the CQ Premium and MG Select "extended:l" use too.So to confirm-- this filter is PGI made and is essentially the EP/syn media identical to the new CQP premium EP and the Microguard Select EP?

I paid $8 something for that one, the premiums are $6 something through our business account. On Advance Auto website if you bundle a synthetic 5 quart oil with the EP it breaks the filter price down quite a bit.

Meh, the oil is more expensive than it is at Walmart. And the filter is much cheaper (free). Like I said, it's a wash.If I am getting a quality heavy duty cleaning synthetic like Valvoline Restore Protect plus the EP Filter and it comes out to $38.. how am I overpaying for the oil ?

$29 for oil jug at Walmart, $10 for filter. That's close enough to the same for me.
Your prices differ from mine, that seems obvious enough.
I'll show you my ignore list instead. Then show it.

For everyone else, I just confirmed these are the correct local prices for a Microguard Select oil filter at ORAP and a 5 quart of 0w-40 Euro FS at my local wal-mart.Meh, the oil is more expensive than it is at Walmart. And the filter is much cheaper (free). Like I said, it's a wash.

The regular price for the Carquest EP filter you posted is $16.99 in my area.Filter in question is in the Title of this thread.. Carquest Extended Performance which is the new synthetic. It has been referenced several times.
You’re not. The fact AAP is including the EP in the bundle makes it a nice deal. Just FYI, AAP is currently doing a $15 gift card deal as well for Mobil 1 5Q purchase so even betterIf I am getting a quality heavy duty cleaning synthetic like Valvoline Restore Protect plus the EP Filter and it comes out to $38.. how am I overpaying for the oil ?
You sure have a knack for spinning a thread. They do copy other filters parts, this one from the Boss media, or originally by Mann Germany. The Boss has a diamond shaped mesh. I think they even copied Toyota’s elongated base plate holes if not mistaken.
I stick to the Boss from USA where I live. Boss is a polyester media I wonder if they copied that aspect.
Smart manufacturer.
