CarQuest EP. Looks pretty nice. My eyes aren't good enough to tell for sure if the filter is backed or not.

How does nylon vs metal backing hold up for extended drain intervals? Wouldn't the heat/cold cycles make the nylon brittle?
It must be a speced high temp Nylon I would think, Polyamide??? We seen many times before, the engineers got your back.

Reactions: GW.
I called PG. They make it. Soon a PG branded version will also be released called the Ultimate Synthetic.

@Glenda W. Did they say the CQ EP has the same media as their new Ultimate Synthetic?

The link shows 99.5% at 25um which is better than the stated efficiency of the CQ EP (99% at 25um).

“Advanced full-synthetic media captures 99.5%** of harmful contaminants while maintaining superior oil flow for peak performance. Built with premium components—including a silicone anti-drainback valve, HNBR gasket, and reinforced steel housing—it’s engineered to perform under extreme pressure and temperature for lasting reliability. Ideal for synthetic oil changes and extended service intervals.

** Performance tested per ISO 4548-12 at 25 µm.”

Yes. Same filter and media.

When I had called about the EP it was so new they had to contact engineering and get back to me.

You got a point.
My skull wants to ask, Did all these people break off the bases of light bulbs every time they changed one?

So yeah, if your circumstances include over-tightened housings...then this sure could be the ticket.
