On my 2012 VW Beetle Turbo the chrome exhaust tips are coated with black carbon. How do I clean them? Thank you

Don't use Easy-Off oven cleaner. It will get the carbon off great - along with the chrome. I often strip anodized chrome with oven cleaner.

I find sooty, carbon-black exhaust tips rather sexy. I was trying to find a more suitable adjective but I was unsuccessful.

You might need to think about WHY the tips are covered in "black carbon". Usually indicates a rich mixture, even though short trips can make that happen as well.

Barkeeper's Friend
I have used barkeepers friend with good results. I now give them a quick wipe whenever I was my car usually every 2 weeks or so and they are perfect. I find it is easier to keep up with the cleaning on a regular basis as once you let it go so far there is a point of no return.
