Sounds like a great find, and good street smarts on your part to adjust your thinking to the Solara, and away from the WRX's.

The "adults" I know all autocross their's!

X2 on the Pennzoil. Best stuff around for cleaning engines.

Best of luck to you!

Why do some people think that it's a bonus that a car has been "DEALER maintained"?? I'd run far away knowing what I know about dealers.

I just sold my 2004 WRX wagon that was truly adult owned for $9.1k with 83k miles. Great condition for age with exception of tires at 30%. Great service life. I felt reasonable depreciation given I only paid $21k new. I did dealer maintain it as Subaru offers a credit card that gains you 3% kick on purchases for up to $500/year in service. I had two cards.

I actually had little interest in mine bu the wagon form swayed people away.

$4200 Camry V6/speed is great buy. I think that people just buying a car spend $3000-$5000. The 04 WRX is a tin can and peaky car. I liked it but really the car I would have like in my 20's not 30's.

#1 There are GOOD dealers out there... And this particular Toyota dealer was very well known and highly regarded local dealership.

#2 Dealer maintained sure beats "yeah, we changed the oil...blah blah blah" -Its easy to LIE. But when I see a stack of records/dates times and types of service I'm much more convinced the car was CONSTANTLY maintained.

#3 The fact that this gentleman went to a dealer speaks of the person himself. -To me, it says "no expense spared" -I'm not going to drop 27grand on a car then look for the cheapest place on earth to maintain it.

-and that is why "dealer maintained" means something to me.

In Miami-Dade and Broward County "DEALER maintained" is a BIG bonus..The bulk of the independents, tire places and 10 minute oil change places are BIG TIME total nightmares..As bad as the stealership is it is generally better then one of those places.

I have been going to a independent for a couple of years now that has been around for over 25 years..Until recently all he did for me was oil changes..I bring my own Motorcraft oil..I recently told him to change the upper and lower hose and flush out the coolant..That almost turned into a nightmare..I would have if I was not standing there..I will get into that at a later time..I will not be going there anymore.

+1. The CR-V I bought was "dealer maintained". It was originally purchased and maintained at the dealer from whom I bought the car, so they had all the service records, from when the car was new. It takes most the guesswork, and a lot of the risk, out of buying a used vehicle.

Someone who takes their vehicle to the dealer for every service visit generally isn't one who knows the ins and outs of vehicle maintenance, but they ARE the type of person who will typically say "yes" to any dealer-recommended service. Bad for their pocket book; Good for the next owner of that particular vehicle
