Car runs rough at an angle?

Well, I did find this a bit strange...

When my Cobalt goes up/down at an angle (like a driveway or a hill) the car starts to run pretty rough. It idles pretty well otherwise. And it does not make a difference how much gas is in the tank either...also no change in gas mileage.

Can't really come up with anything good...only thing that I can think of is a blockage in the fuel filter moving around...


Any thoughts?

If possible attach a fuel pressure gauge and check the fuel pressure when playing up.Also wiggle engine wiring harness and check vacuum hoses.

also you can start the car and slowly jack up and see engine idle remain the same.where is your fuel filter located in the tank?

Had same thing.Changing fuel filter didn't help. Check spark plug wells,maybe they are getting flooded, I was one cause for me and another was sludge issue.

Oh, I've have it a few years now..picked it up from a family member who was in trouble..it's strictly a commuter (beater) car, since it makes a lousy family car with two doors..

It least it's paid for...

If I remember right, it should be on top. I'll have to check it out....

Too much oil in the engine?
Fuel vapor canister loaded up with raw fuel?
Odd that it is up OR downhill that can cause this roughness.
Engine shifting due to bad mounts [engine or transmission] that causes a vacuum or intake leak? Maybe pull on an electrical connection?
