I believe internally the above two cannister oil filters quality is the same. The Advance Auto Car Quest (white) oil filter is a little more slick externally while the O’Reilly Microgard oil filter (grey) is slightly more grippy. I prefer to just grip the oil filter to remove if possible without breaking out the oil filter wrench unless the oil filter is too hard to turn by hand. Buying on line with a discount code (Advance Auto) or with a local oil + filter deal (O’Reilly) has worked well . Unless there is a change, I believe I found my two oil filters to love !

I'm using both ... stocked up a while ago when I got a good deal on them. Just put a MicroGard Select on the Tacoma last week (below, added 6 bar magnets) and also put a MicroGard Select on the Coyote last OCI. Got Carquest Premiums on deck for the next OCIs.
Love that the Tacoma has a screw on filter. Hate the cartridge style on my '23.
This Tacoma is easy to do a filter and oil change. I punch a hole in the dome of the filter after hot shutdown and put 10 PSI of air pressure into the dome and it drains all the oil out of the filter to the sump so it can be removed without spilling a drop.
