Sigh, missing the dark horse........
I can't think of a competitive 2013 they are missing...
Crazy how the Passat went from #1 to #4 in one year. The competition made some big strides for the 2013 models.
I am guessing the 2013 Malibu was too new for this article?

The VW 2.5L I5 engine is really sub-par in that application compared to its peers. More an econoroots engine and does not belong in the likes of Ford, Nissan and Honda.
I believe it is a USDM motor designed to try and satisfy our wants for torque but unfortunately at the expense of fuel economy and noise(odd).
