I think it’s a combination of the climate here (not extremely hot in summer and not extremely cold in winter) as well as the fact that I don’t do short trips so the batteries get charged up nicely on every drive. And in the Corvette I hook up the battery maintainer in the winter months when I’m not driving it as often. I have always gotten long life from my batteries, I got 9 years from the battery in my 2006 Civic.
younger brother just replaced a dead Costco Interstate...17 months old and under the "newer" pro-rated, 3 year warranty paid $60 for its replacement...another Costco Interstate...
I don't think I will ever buy another Costco Interstate...not when Walmart has their Everstart Maxx batteries so close in price to Costco and I've had good experiences with those Everstart Maxx batteries (and I did have good experiences with Costco Interstate batteries...same Clarios manufacture here in ChicagoLand prior to going pro-rated)

I routinely get ten years out of a Volvo battery, because Volvo, thoughtfully, put them in the passenger compartment, under the load floor of the wagon back. No extreme heat from the engine, and no extreme cold. A battery under the hood gets beat up. The battery in my Tundra has been replaced twice in 9 years.
I rember the big GM vehicles of the 70's actually routed the intake air into the battery area and picked it up again after the battery. It was not a closed routing, but stil provided plenty of cooler ambient air around the battery. Back then people only expected an engine to last a maximum of 100,000 miles, and 3K oc was the standard, so I gues the engineers did not care about succing battery acid fumes through the engine.
Maybe, that along with new lead was still being produced instead of todays all recycle, was / is part of why todays batteries in general don't last as long.

For the past few years I've been very happy with Exide batteries purchased at our local Home Depot. Better price than the auto parts stores and much easier to purchase than at WalMart. Our WalMarts have all the batteries locked up now and it can take a very long time to find an employee to unlock them.

Issues with battery in 3 years
Did they change it, I could swear the high tier flooded Walmart batteries only have a 3 year replacement and only the Platinum AGMs had a 4 year replacement.
Whoops yes you are correct 3 year for regular Maxx and 4 for agm
All the Clarios "platinum" AGM's I've seen for years have always been 48 month replacement no matter which sticker is on them, no matter which plant they come from, no matter how much they cost.
Otherwise you can always roll the dice, save $100 and buy one made from Chinasauce....which all or most of the Clarios AGM's are already made from now anyway....like this H7 you can get for $130:

How does Home Depot handle warranty claims on their batteries? I’ve seen the 3-yr Exide 24Fs on sale for $100, which is a great price—but I haven’t looked into the warranty policy.

I took the dead-after-18 months battery back to Costco. They replaced it under the pro-rated warranty and I got a $50 discount. Unfortunately the price on the battery went from ~$100 18 months ago to $125, so I still had to pay ~$80 after tax.
The guy that helped me was training someone else and told her a story about how people used to bring back the batteries the month before the 36-month warranty expired to swap them out, and because Costco doesn't test the batteries, they lost millions of dollars, which is why they switched to the pro-rated warranty. I remember people used to brag about doing this scam all over the internet.
I used to get Everstart Maxx batteries at Wal-mart but their prices went up ($150) so I decided to try Costco. Regret it. I've now spent $30 more than what the Wal-mart battery would have been from the beginning. I knew about the Costco prorated warranty going into it but I've never had a battery last less than 5 years. Never imagined it would die so fast.

Literally someone bragging in this thread about doing the exact same scam at Walmart. Don't be surprised if the change rolls out to Walmart too.
I don't expect Walmart to change. When I needed a battery replaced Walmart always tested it before exchanging it. That was about 3 times over the years. All the other times the batteries lasted way past the warranty period.
my brother didn't anticipate any issues with the battery in 3 years yet 17 months later it was back to Costco for a replacement and $60 out of his pocket for the replacement because of pro-rating; Costco's current warranty...that and a previous poster reporting similar is the last of me buying any batteries at Costco...especially when the Walmart Everstart Maxx is the same manufactured battery here in ChicagoLand with a 3 year no pro-rated warranty...
