Not recently...more like July 2023, so over two years ago.
Yeah, I never knew this because I never returned one. But as I posted before, the warranty change was due to the cheats; those who returned a 36 month battery by 35 months. We all pay for their dishonesty.
Also the stupid person that sued Costco because they refunded him his original purchase price and he had to pay $2 more to buy a new battery with a new warranty instead of getting a free replacement under the same warranty, the way they were doing it was a better deal, he was just too stupid to realize such and him and the ambulance chaser he hired ruined it for the rest of us.
Walmart sells the same Clarios manufactured battery for the same price with a non pro-rated warranty - ie 3 full years, 4 full on AGM.

Maybe, maybe not...we don't really know, but could very well be. What I do know, is that there is some discretion at each store. I have now heard multiple cases of batteries being returned to Costco and receiving 100% credit within the 36 month period.
Because that is discretionary, I am not willing to risk it, when I can purchase what is essentially the same Clarios AGM battery at Walmart (at least on the west coast, they are Clarios). For the same price as Costco and get a four year free replacement warranty at Walmart. I have bought three there in the past couple years for friends and family. All working great so far.

I see that you were able to get a free 'replacement'.
But otherwise, in a similar case, post warranty expiration, I have been able to rejuvenate a similar drained battery by hooking it up to a 10 amp NOCO genuis battery charger for 36 hrs. I understand that you need a high amp one, the usual 1.25 amp ones will not be able to recharge it. It last 2 more years after that. I then replaced it last year before winter onset. YMMV
True but recently enough that people don't know how much worse it's gotten... Yet.
I have CTEK 7002 that works well and has a recondition function. I didn’t use it on his that night as I wanted to test in the morning and since it was 3 years old in case warranty worked which it did. Recovery/Recondition is always a good option but after 3 years and being killed, having him stranded and hassle not worth it. He paid for the original anyway so was very happy to get new under warranty.
Next will probably be my wife’s Pilot with that same battery. Hers was installed 2/22 so out of warranty already. Voltage was testing low but CCA was still OK. I had it on the charger for a couple hours but didn’t have time to let it finish full. I’ll try tomorrow or next day again. Hers sees a lot of short trip and she doesn’t put headlights on to give full charge voltage. Honda’s fuel savings variable charge thing based on load is a PITA.

Yep, and they will also give you free roadside assistance if it fails on you.

I bought a 725 cca rated 24F Everstart MAXX ( Walmarts 3 year battery ) that tested 1117 cca in store on 9/11/2022, and today 10/29/2025, 37 monts later it tested 913 cca.
And there was a seldom seen online Walmart rollback going on so I got that new battery for $88.00 + tax and refundable core deposit of $12.00
In store can not give you the online rollback j price if its going on. But buy it online and you can get the exact same battery later at the store when you pick it up.
Today's price is $139.99 + tax and refundable core for the 24F MAXX
When this one test below 800 cca when charged at least 80 % and its at 75 F or greater then I'll swap in an identical.
Thats 1.1 X rated CCA at 75 F but that cutoff line gets lowered 2.66 cca for every degree F below 75 F.
I recently started watching Walmart for it being on rollback again, and if it is I'll swap a new one in then, instead of waiting for this one to test low.

My local Ford dealer is offering the 24 month Motorcraft Tested Tough Plus battery $149.95 till the end of the year.
I was able to set my AV business up with the parts department years ago so I get it for less than that.

Three year free replacement warranty too.
I always go for the Platinums with the four year warranty. Usually around $179.84...never seen them on sale though

I do, because both of my cars are on their original batteries. One is ten years old and the other is eight years old. Still going strong.
Walmart gets my business for auto battery’s.
