Walmart....no pro rate. If battery no good within warranty, they give you a new one. No questions asked.

It is three years pro rated at USA Costcos since 2023. Canadian Costcos still have three years free replacement.
The heck with that pro rate non sense ! Go to Walmart. Their batteries are actually very good. No pro rate at Walmart. Simple replacement if found to be no good. No re-charging. They do test though. Make sure it's less than 12 volts before you bring it back
I test mine every year and if I see that "Replace Battery" on my tester then I take it to Walmart and get a new one under warranty. They usually test it and get the same results as I do.
I don't want to be left stranded at a bad time.
Smart to be pro-active like that. It'll save you're alt and starter too !

7-8 year battery life easily
and all my current batteries are AGM, lets see how long they last.

Same, all my cars either came with AGM or I switched to them...with the exception of my Tundra still on a flooded.
Garaged cars sit on battery tenders 24/7, the driveway cars get plugged into a tender at least once or twice a week (all cars have a pig tail installed or factory battery tender connection).
All cars get the battery tested at each oil change, which varies from one to three times per year.
Two of my agms are 7 years old, one is 6.5 years old, and one is 4 years old, all are doing great so far.
AGM's have a much longer life than FLA....just watch the temperature. An AGM will freeze at - 40 degrees fahrenheit, so watch you're wind chill factors on cars stored outdoors. My 2 year old Optima froze.....but it was one one those wicked arctic blast thingys with high winds and very low wind chill factor. This was NY. Got down to -4 degrees minus the wind chill
The windchill can only cool things down to what the outside temperature is , except in cases where evaporation/sublimation occur, but that shouldn't really effect a battery, If the battery froze at -4F either the battery was in a low state of charge or already going bad.
It's possible low state of charge. Not to mention it was an Optima, that was bad enough. Heater on high, rear defroster,heated seats. Those Optima's WERE great when they were made in USA, then they opened up a factory in Mexico. They were all down hill since then.
has anyone with a Costco Interstate battery not received a free battery as replacement under the 3 year pro rated warranty ...I realize it would be a roll of the dice but I've not read where anyone was denied a free replacement battery in the 2 years (July 2023) since the change to pro rated battery replacement from Costco...

I need to call Costco in the morning to ask about warranty on Father-in-laws Renegade. I don't know install date but battery sticker on Interstate is 7-22. Worst they can do is say no. He might have left something on but out at dinner, failed to start afterward. 9.6V when I went there and jumped it. Side note it went into limp home mode and wouldn't go faster than 20mph. He drove it home that way with some colorful discussions with his girlfriend. She couldn't wait to get back to her house.
If Costco says no on warranty, I'll go to Walmart for Everstart Maxx. Price difference is $15 more at Walmart for an H6 (48) flooded.

I called Costco shortly after 9am. They open an hour earlier now for "executive" membership. They checked by my membership# and said I had 5 days left on the warranty
. It was purchased before the new pro-rate policy. They also put a sticker on the new one so it now has a 3 year pro-rate warranty.Total cost was just under $7, something with price difference between the old and new. He's happy, battery is new, should be good for another couple years. He definitely left something on because after drive home it went from from like 9.6V to this just from driving home and held it all night. CCA and CA both tested bad anyway though.
A little secret about Costco... Employees have the power to go beyond the stated warranty, sale reimbursement policy, etc. Be polite and you just might get a nice surprise.

So if its a 36 month battery, he will get half his money back.
Vs. Walmart which would give him a new battery for free - however that battery would only be warranted for the next 18 months (the balance of his original warranty).
You could argue if one is better or worse.
Either way 18 months is pretty disappointing.

I had a OEM Nissan battery last a month. Obviously someone makes them for Nissan, but that one was defective.
