Car AC gets warm after 30 minutes of driving.

in reading my factory service manual it says to add 25ml of oil
"PAG oil: Denso ND-Oil 8"
when performing a leakage repair

do you think I should or need to do that?

I have always thought this car had relatively weak AC compared to my Lexus

You could add some oil, but you would have to buy the oil and an oil injector. You don't have to add the full 25 ml, about half of that is all you will need. You could also use the oil injector to put some dye in it (just a few ml) while you are at it. Anyway, at this point you won't have to suffer from heat exhaustion when you drive it home.
When you get home, have a pro check it for leaks. Then have the system evacuated, repair the leak, install a new receiver/dryer (your numbers indicate that your system has some moisture in it), pull a vacuum, and recharge it with the correct amount of freon and oil. Depending on the leak repair that it needs, this should not be overly expensive.
In the future, if you ever need to add freon again (to any of your vehicles), purchase freon that already has PAG oil in it. They also sell freon that has both oil and dye in it. Stay away from the freon that has sealer or stop leak in it.

check the can of Refrigerant that you put in and read the fine print on the back it, It probably says 10 oz or 11oz of refrigerant and 1 or 2 oz of oil.

Maybe one of these little cans would get you what you want.

So it was basically empty? Mb I do have a leak.

Yes, you have a leak!!! Question is where is it leaking from, and how long it takes to leak out. You may be good for the rest of the summer, or it may all leak out overnight.

With the compressor on.

4 years later Let me resurrect my own thread. AC system untouched in 4 years.

AC blowing warm air, wife said after a drive for like 15 mins the ac *might* get cold.

I put my guages on the car and it seemed a little low, 30L/150H @ ambient 85F

I added maybe 6 oz r143a. Air was blowing ice cold. Low side 40psi high side was like 240, ambient 85F (I used chart HERE

Take my gauges off put everything away and go for a test drive. Hot air again...🤦‍♀️I go to bed.

Next day I put the guages back on and the low side is now 115psi!
High side is really low like 50-60.
(Tiny hiss when removing little blue cap from low side port)

One thing I notice is that the auto HVAC control temp seems off. In auto mode at 85F ambient.
When set to 65 it's barely blowing, then I turn up to only 74 and the heat comes on(it was probably 95F inside the car.

How much resistance should there be when spinning the compressor by hand with car off? There seems to be a decent amount of drag when I try and spin it.

Unequal static pressure means what? Low seems much higher than high side.

I'm at a loss as to what the problem might be.

I'm thinking the clutch is bad. Probably need a new compressor. Low side valve probably leaking after having your gauge on it.

To update this thread, I added another can and brought level to slightly less that I had originally approx 225-230 at 80F and the ac is working now...🤷‍♀️
