If I had every single ICON ratchet in the entire store, I would trade ALL of them for one single real ratchet of my choice.

To each his own. I do have SnapOn ratchets too. It's 50/50 whether I reach for a HF or the SnapOn.

Lol. I think he insists on a fancy truck with chrome wheels deliver his ratchet. And when we talk smooth, are we referring to low back drag?

Anyone has experience with these? How are they compared to Gearwrench? Are they smoother?

I have the Gearwrench 120XP and they are not as smooth.

Capri 90 Tooth

I have the 1/4" Capri flex and have used it exactly twice. It works fine but is not my fav. I much prefer the Pittsburgh swivel head. It just feels more righter.

I literally just went into Harbor Freight and tried out the Pittsburgh Swivel Head. Not that smooth at all.

No it's kind of a retro (coarse) mechanism and a little less smooth at first. These ratchets will never have the minimal back drag of the newer 90+ tooth ratchets, but if you put it in a drill to "exercise" it, it will reduce the back drag.

The swivel head appears to be sealed so I have not tried to open it, but if the Pittsburghs are like other ratchets (vintage Craftsman, SK, Snapon) they would benefit from additional lube. Maybe soaking in ATF would help?

Those Pittsburgh swivel heads are high back drag. I have one that's in the giveaway pile.

Now that I've been using mine a lot (mostly 1/4 and 3/8, I dont use 1/2 often except with breaker bars) over the past 5ish years the back drag is about the same as it was for the snap on swivels they replaced. These were not new snapons so maybe the newer designes have imoroved; at least they should have, given the premium price!

Thanks but I have a few of them and really won't ever need to buy another ratchet! Unless, of course, I have a special application or realize that I "need" a Nepros or Ko-Ken...
