2. What your owner's manual says -- not just viscosity, but certifications (look for acronyms like API SM, ILSAC GF-4, etc.) and change intervals as well
5w30 generally, 10w30 in warmer climates
3. Where you live
Minnesota - will probably not be my winter car.
4. How you drive (easy? hard? fast? slow?)
Hard daily driving, and possible track/drift.
5. What your daily drive is like (short trips? long trips? city? highway?)
Very short trips, with a low temp thermostat 149*f. I try and take it out once a week for a long drive, but with the weather lately, it takes alot of hard driving to warm up my oil.
6. Whether your car has any known problems
No EGR/PCV system, VTA - runs rich when cold (which takes a good 6 miles to get up to temp - I work 4 miles away)
Now I would lik an oil that will hold up to decent amounts of condensation, and if possible fuel dilution. Im using amsoil 5w30 with a pure1 oversized filter. Now do you guys think redline would offer more protection when it comes to condensation, extreme heat differentials, and fuel dilution over amsoil?
