Is it safe to switch between high mileage oil and non high mileage? Also would it be bad to put say QS Defy in my 2005 Malibu Maxx when the oils rating is for years up too 2004? Thanks.

Yep. That said, you could dump this stuff into a new car with 5 miles on it if you wanted without the risk of voiding a warranty or messing up o2 sensors.
That said, I will dearly miss the ALP SL QS Defy 10w30 version.
IMO, if I knew back then what I know now I would have ran VML in my engine from day 1. The benefits of preventing and most likely stopping leaks is a great selling point. I just like the fact that VML is a semi synthetic oil made by the best oil manufacturing company in the world, IMO, and is almost priced as a dino oil. How can you go wrong?
