I have P21S wax and a finishing pad on my buffer... can you apply wax with the finishing pad? if so, will it show any results better than hand applying?
I don't see the purpose of applying a paste wax with a buffer. You have to pull it out of the container, spread it on the buffer pad and then apply it to the car. It's a waste of wax. You won't get better results either.
Use a foam applicator and apply the stuff in a thin coat by hand. It's an easy enough wax to use.
Sure, its not a problem but other than a different experience, I don't think there is a benefit. A buffer will help apply a thin, consistent coat of wax but you can do the same thing by hand with a little practice.
I've never found an advantage to it. In addition there is no need to wait with P21S, you wipe it on and wipe it off immediately. By the time you applied it to the whole car you could have applied and removed it by hand.
I'm a total detailing novice but here's my 2c. I just waxed my black Porsche with Girots liquid wax applied with a Girots wax pad on his orbital machine. Followed his insane method to apply three coats three hours apart without buffing between coats. Apply the last coat and let dry for 12 hours prior to removing. I again used the orbital machine with a hard 'blue' foam pad and a wax removal bonnet. Finish is amazing with no circular marks or marks of any kind. Not sure if this is an insane thing to do but at least it was quiet in my garage with just me, the radio, and P-car.
I bought a Porter Cable 7424 and a bunch of pads and products from Autogeek and love what it did for my car. Got rid of all the scratches, swirls and spiderwebbing inflicted by the previous owner. I use it to apply wax as well. I find it applies it more evenly and puts it on in a thinner layer than I can by hand. It also really saves your arms and wrists.
I use my Griot's Garage Porter Cable buffer (I got the small detail one too!) for everything. You really do get a better job applying wax with the buffer than by hand. More uniform and easier on your body.

You spend less time dipping into the container (our pouring) with a buffer than when applying by hand. I can spread a small amount on my buffer and do the entire hood. How many times ya gotta do this by hand? And you do get better results. I was a non-believer like you for years until I broke down and actually tried the buffer route. Never go back now.
