Can Oil "Eat Gaskets"?

I heard someone say "Pennzoil's Z-7 Additive package is super strong and can eat gaskets. Valvoline doesnt do that."

Im asking because.. well i love myc ar and i want its gaskets to be ok, i feel as though ive tested them with 1) The AUTOMATIC TRANSMISISON FLUID Cleanng (Probably what made the oil look like Kerosene, excet "Black" it came out like Kerosene) And 2) SEAFOAM which being 100% Petroleum like a Lucas, said it does NOT Eat gaskets because of that (I had drained oil about 3 times prior to letting it ALL out when i changed the oil and NOT the Filter.. if i change the filter it will come out AGAIN and im wondering if the oil is strong enough to be good to the engine, even if its on "Bypas" .. it IS Full Synthetic MaxLife, after all.)

Also let me know anbout the gaskets.. after this, -I Promise- to not half-[censored] it and change Filter and Oil at same time.. just owondering about the interrelation of gaskets, oil, filters, and bypass.

Thanks.

Yeah, oil eats gaskets -- that's why they use it, so you'll have to buy new ones.

I bet they could use water instead of oil, but they don't because water doesn't "eat" gaskets.

I haven't seen the Z7 additive on the bottle in several years. Even if they used it, your gaskets are fine. 2-EHa eats gaskets.

Your gaskets are fine. The only way your gaskets are going to leak with a good cleaning oil is if they are already screwed up, and the leak has been stopped up or slowed by dirty deposits.

Awesome.

My question comes because i can see smoke while the car is running now (is cold outside though, maybe im being paranoid, maybe im not?). not sure if it is Grey (light_ or White, bt there isnt a lot of it.Im considering Blue Devil, as i think that gets gaskets "Sealed," yes?

Out of curiosity, and I don't mean to take this off topic, but you'll often read on BITOG about various situations that can cause your oil to become acidic. Could acidic oil have a negative affect on the gaskets, or are we concerned about acidic oil b/c of its affect on other parts of the engine?

Kind of an all-around gasket Question. i thought Oil had to be in there a LONG TIME to become Acidic... im interested in keeping the gaskets in good health.

That "Smoke" COULD have just bene a cold day.. i mean its possible there is NO issue.. but im SOO ready to give it a Blue Devil!

Im wondering if any "Oils", if anything IN the oil, can go Counteractive ot the health of the engine, i suppose.. i WANT my gaskets to stay good, its possible that thy are FINE, and im a car hypocondriac worrywart, and that spossible too.

I suppose o have no idea. i know Exhanst stinks anyways, but .. well, i gues si ask about an "All Inclusive Question" and i ask too: How CAN different Smokes come out the tailpipe, where does it come from? MY Echaust has hol ein it to.. further evidence ot Condensation?

My Isuzu NPR's factory service manual says dont use synthetic oil it may cause the gaskets to leak. I found that hard to believe and used it, about the third oil change the rear main started to leak, no one at the dealer could tell me if that was the cause or if it was something else. For $1700.00 though it doesnt leak now.

In that truck I wont be using synthetic oil in the engine, but it sees little use these days.

I have synthetic oil in all my other cars and trucks though.

You are right. Bad or cruded up oil rings or valve seals will do that. In that case a good synthetic high mileage oil could help clean out the ring pack and soften/swell up dried out valve seals.
