Hey Everyone new here and thanks for any and all help!!!!

I purchased my daughter a 2014 Ford Fusion program car with 160,000 miles on and I want to go through and start some preventative maintenance on it since the dealer claimed they couldn't give the maint. history but assured me it was top notch being a Ford exec vehicle........anyway I have some of the BMW Blue coolant left over from a recent flush and fill on the X5.

Is it ok to flush out all that orange and refill with the blue?

Thanks again for any help!!!!!!!!

While I think it's best to use up automotive fluids if they are within spec, stick to orange/Dex-Cool. It's cheap.

Thanks for the replies!!, I was just curious............I pointed out the coolant was a touch low and the salesman said to go see the service department and they would give me a good deal on a 1gl concentrate.......it was $42 and yellow not orange so I wasn't sure what the specs required were.

I didn't take him up on the great deal either....

Mixing different coolant chemistries is a No No...but if you do a complete flush and get all of the old orange stuff out I think you'll be fine.

Remember, the Japanese don't like silicates (but the Europeans do)...the Europeans don't like phosphates (but the Japanese do) . the Japanese don't like 2-EHA but the Europeans, Ford and GM are good with it....etc. etc. etc....and your Fusion's engine is a Japanese design (Mazda) unless it's the 1.6T which is a British design I think...

I think the key is a good flush of the old stuff and then you can use just about any coolant in any engine, IMO....(some older engine designs won't tolerate OAT coolants because of the solder used).

I'm thinking of using Pentosin A2 (a P-HOAT) in my 2014 Focus (after a good flush) because it's a Mazda design and I got a few gallons at the AZ clearance....but I may use PGL (a non 2-EHA OAT) which I also have....

It's going to take more than what's leftover in the gallon jug to refill a Fusion. It's nearly impossible to get all the old mix out and why would you want to confuse the next person that may service it for daughter if you don't happen to be around. Spend a few bucks more and get the right stuff.

Use Zerex G-05 or Peak Global Lifetime

Because the manufacturers all have their own theories on what works best for X metal , alloy , design etc.

That Fusion does not take G-05, it came factory fill with orange. in 2010MY it went from G-05 to dark green for models made from 06Jul2009. Then to orange for 2012MY for models made from 15Aug2011.

It should have went like this...

Everyone involved should be fired and publicly mocked. Also preferably remove their ability to reproduce for teh good of mankind. I have 5 different Ford coolants, 4 different Mazda coolants, unknown amounts of ATF and oil for both brands.

Not sure why you would assume I only have a partial jug of the blue but anyway.........My daughter will be just fine, she has been helping out with maintenance since she was 10 (we have always owned BMW's so she has plenty of practice

)........since we got the fusion SHE has replaced the fuel filter (wasn't easy), air filter, pulled and replaced the plugs, pulled and cleaned the throttle body and replaced the gasket.......so a coolant flush will be like baking cookies from pre-packaged cookie dough for her.

Shell really pounds $$$$ you for their 93 oct, gladly theres an exxon station across the road also a top top tier gas + they do the typical + .30 + .30 for the 89 + 93 octanes

Cheapest alternative for you in Europe is to buy BASF Glysatin G48. (In the USA it is branded Zerex G48)

Stuff is really inexpensive and easy to obtain in Europe.
