I have been using high mileage oil in my car for the last two years, out of curiosity would it hurt if I switched back to non high mileage? Would it mess up the seals?

If the engine was good, with no leaks or oil consumption before, then switching back won't be a problem. If you had leaks, or consumption issues and the HM oil was helping, switching back might cause leaks and/or consumption to return.

If you stop using high mileage your oils seals will dissolve into mush within 3000 miles and all the oil will shoot out of every part of the engine anytime you Redline the engine for more than 8 seconds at a time.

I could not, leaks and consumption were worse fast. But I was treating an actual problem. Some just use high mileage because of the miles. They may get away with it.

I made the transition from 5w30 HM to 0w40 in the Volvo a little over a year and 17K miles ago. There are no issues to report so far on this 15 year old vehicle pushing 212K miles.

Not going to hurt anything, but why not stay with what you are using now.
