Can I paint a steering wheel cover?

I'm doing a manual transmission swap on my truck, and the steering wheel column cover I bought off eBay is brown when they advertised grey. I seriously cant stand eBay anymore. You cant buy anything off of their without an issue. Can I go to home depot and have them color match it to the existing grey then slap some grey paint on this plastic piece or is that not going to work? I think the paint will cover up the natural texture of the plastic and not look good.

If this "plastic" is vinyl, then perhaps a dye rather than paint might work with some or somewhere extensive prep work. Do an internet search to figure out options once you verify exactly what type of material was used.

Im not really sure. I think its just your typical abs plastic. Looks like they have interior plastic spray paint. Not sure how it would match though.

I had a dash in a 1991 GMCJimmy painted years ago. Someone broke in and stole my radio. Insurance paid to fix it, part of this was replacing and painting the dash.

Clean it. Spray it with adhesion promoter. Follow the directions. Then spray it with plastic paint. At worst, it rubs off in 4 years and do it again.

The specific auto trim paints are surprisingly good. I was a skeptic.... Until I tried them.

This is a seller problem, and ebay will always side with the buyer.
Spend the 35 seconds required to file the item not as described form, go through the process of waiting a few days and I'll bet 80/20 that they'll reimburse you in full and you won't have to ship it back.

He already told me I can just return it. A lot of times theyll just knock off a portion and you just make due with it. These manual shift covers are hard to come by though. Theyre all for automatics on ebay..

SEM interior paint works quite well. I’d try that, especially being it’s in an area you don’t touch often.
