I need a part for my truck and I ordered it online on Christmas day and it shows on the internet they received the order but they STILL haven't shipped my order out. I called up the dealership numerous times today and nobody is answering the phone which I think it rather odd. I looked at the reviews on the website and shows poor reviews. I want to cancel the order cause I called my local dealer which I guess I should have done in the first place and they happen to have the parts I need in stock which I also find unusual cause it's not something somebody would buy. I just don't like my local dealer. They're a bunch of idiots, so my point is can I disput this purchase if they ever do charge my card? Can I just tell the bank I didn't buy this? How does this process work and what would I tell the bank when I fill out the questionare?

If you have online access just look for the link or call them over the phone. Just tell them your story, they always side with their credit card holders.

I've tried calling the dealership I ordered online from and they won't answer the phone for some reason.

So I can have the credit card company reverse the charges if I call them and tell them my situation?

Dispute the charge. They'll ask for a reason, which would be "goods never received". Card companies will almost always side with you, the customer.

If you are UNABLE to get a hold of them to either cancel your order or find out what is going on, then yes, you should dispute it. Don't just use your bank to cancel, you need to at least make an effort to first cancel with the dealer.

Can I tell them to dispute it even if they haven't charged me yet? With my luck they will send the parts the same day I buy them at the local dealer and be stuck buying two parts.

Yes, I would still give the same reason. The CC customer service rep will ask clarifying questions anyways. It never hurts to try.

I checked my bank account. They did charge my card. well I guess this makes things easier then. I wonder if they shipped out my order and didn't tell me yet. Most places don't charge you until they ship the item.

In that case, I would keep trying to call and wait on the dispute. If Monday rolls around and you have no information, call the CC company.

You should not be charged until the item ships. Thats the law. But if you cancel the order before it ships then you should be off the hook. If you do get charged, then dispute it saying the order was cancelled. Cancel the order in a manner you have proof. Email followed by certified letter.

Well, you don't want to lie. If you've unsuccessfuly tried to contact the parts place via email and phone to no avail, just tell your card issuer that. They'll likely back you.

How much is the part that you ordered? If it is a $1,000 engine block, it might be a different story than a $15 PCV valve.

I've done it on a handful of occasions, and it's always been in my favor. My bank lets me do it online.

Under some universal commercial code they have 30 days to get you your item after you order it.

All this shipping tracking updates etc is just good customer service.

Do you have an actual promised date? If not, you're obligated to hold your end of the deal until Jan 25th...

Just an update: I sent that dealer an email stating that I want to cancel my order since it's been a week and they haven't even shipped my item yet and they don't answer their phone, so it appears that they gave me a full refund to my account. I gave them my phone number to call me. They could have just called to tell me what the status of the order was but oh well. At least now I can simply go to my local dealer tomorrow and pickup the part.
