Wanna bet when and if this beauty gets his dash back together it will be with duct tape? Hope he can find a matching color.

Dumb question: "Leaking fluid from the radiator core", and he removes this. Any chance he pulled it because condensation normally runs off it? Or did he have a real coolant leak, and simply pulled the wrong item?

I have seen customers on the service drive screaming murder thinking their heater core is leaking. It makes you wonder, have they ever had a car with A/C before?

Oh the heater is leaking coolant on the floor, out the drip tube and fogging up the windows with antifreeze slime.

He pulled his evaporator and not his heater core.

Even if I'm 99% sure, I still at least check to make sure I don't need a special gizmo to do the job. Maybe a few pictures or a video.

How does someone mistake a refrigerant line for a heater hose? I could somewhat understand mistaking one core for another, if it weren't for the hints that were apparent before he got there.

Not only that, but dead off its still going to be in the zipcode of 80psi in the system. When he broke the seal you know it made a lot! of noise. It didnt just hiss out, it blew out and flash froze the immediate vicinity.
If he had stopped there and brought the car to Chris to put the A/C back together, I wouldnt have been making fun of him.
..okay, thats a lie, I still would, but it wouldnt be as funny. Just sad.
But he managed to continue with the delusion that he in fact had the heater core. Im forced to believe that he does not have any mechanical knowledge what-so-ever.
Which is okay! Not everyone can see how mechanical objects interface and just intuitively discern their purpose and the method of repair.
Its also okay to want to learn more.
But at the same time, I wouldnt recommend someone with no prior mechanical background start with a heater core R&R on something that takes hours of labor for an experienced tech to accomplish. At least, not without someone experienced to help them.

I don't even want to replace the radiator which is much easier than heater core.

The only part of the dashboard that I can touch/remove is the glove box to replace cabin filter, and only I found some pictures and video of how to do it.

Under the hood, I can replace spark plugs for some engines, but not all engines, I can also replace valve cover gasket(s) for some engines. The more difficult jobs I have it done at my trusted mechanic.

Smart call.

Half the time, you have to roll down the dash to get to an AC evap or heater core. On a modern vehicle, with auto climate control systems, computer modules and touch displays, and ABS components everywhere, that's a major job not for the meek or for those without a decent-sized tool cabinet.

My rice boy must be a genius LOL

Guess he is too cheap to buy a manual, bet the people at the other stores had a great laugh too!

Just tell him to connect the heater hoses to the evaporator, they make a [censored] of a heater core... Yes I've done so years ago on a old car I just wanted to get through the winter with... I took a hacksaw to the couplers, sawed them off and let the R-12 fly(actually I probably loosened the schrader valve and let it come down slow, either way pressure isn't very high at 40*F)... And before you tree huggers start convulsing, this was probably 15 years before R-134 existed...
