Customer has called a couple of times. Seems that his Honda is leaking coolant from the heater core. He's been to Napa, A-Zone, Pep Boys and Oriley and nobody can find this heater core!

So I order up a heater core from the Dealer using his VIN number. Guy rolls up and says I got the wrong part too.

So he walks out to his truck and puts this on the counter.

Whats wrong here?

How did he remove it without figuring out what it should have contained?

Well I don't work for the dealer and I still got it closer then them, lol. Sue me, I'm not fluent in aircon.

Thats the tape that covers the bulb for the expansion valve. This guy removed his Evaporator thinking it was his heater! He said the "antifreeze" hissed when he pulled the lines off.

You should have seen his face when I told him that he was still 6 hrs away from getting the heater out.

HAHA.. lol.. I would have had a hard time not laughing at him.

poor guy.

should have sold him some blinker fluid.

I don't understand some DIY'ers. If I'm not at least 77% sure, I immediately stop and consult the interwebs. That's AFTER having done my freaking homework beforehand!

Thats an expensive, not to mention time consuming mistake. I would have loved to have been in line behind him as you explained this to him...

He sounds like me,, I can take anything apart. Knowing what it is or how to get it back together is another thing.

Hopefully he knows what a receiver drier looks like, as he'll now need one of those, too.

Maybe it's time for a real wrencher to step in.

At least he didn't walk in with the radiator & battery attached to it.

Maybe he was checking to see if the supplier knew what he was doing

My reaction is not to laugh at him,nor judge him, but to empathize.

I have done a few blunders in my lifetime and know the feeling. Usually I beat myself up enough that others have no need to.

Just yesterday I had to call my coworker to bring a chainsaw over to my work area. I hung my truck up on a small stump. No damage, just the pain of enduring his chuckles!
