Haven't seen one break 13.5 at my local track, but I have already seen one break at the track though.

And I've played with 4 or 5 of them now, I'm unimpressed. They are considerably slower than I expected, and they don't seem to pull any harder out in the real world than a stock LS1 or Mach 1.

Of course with the SHO being a turbo car, I'm sure 400hp is a couple stupid small mods away.

Really, at that weight it needs 500hp to be a contender. It's kind of like when my friend first got a Brabus CL65 with 704hp. I couldn't wait to try it out but after riding in it I realized it's likely a high 11 second car due to weight. What a disappointment with that kind of power.

What kind of mph are you seeing out of the Camaro?

Maybe my expectations were too high, but I've seen some really respectable LS3 Vettes around here (cam only cars doing 11.40s @125ish and stock ones running deep 12s at my local track), I guess the extra weight just neutered it more than I expected it to.

Never ran 87 octane-in those days the only commonly available syn was M-1 so that was used with 3K changes -the o ring seal at the oil filter mount was a common problem--guess who doesn't know what they are doing...

Chevy was out of the pony car market for years. BIG mistake. While Chevy was sleeping, the Mustang developed a huge aftermarket parts cult following among other things.


The Mustang has had that for more than a decade now, starting with the massive aftermarket support for the Fox.

I'm not even going to get into this with you. I've owned the car for 16 years and 2 others that have come and gone. I've also participated in a few of the Buick vs Ford shootouts over the years. You owned one for 2 years and couldn't keep it together. I know more about these cars than I ever wanted to know.

I've done body off restorations and built 5 engines for people not to mention the countless modding. I do consider myself an expert on these cars.

I remember a very old article back when the Foxbodies were still being made. Might have been Car Craft or Hotrodding. They did a survey of the big 3 and who had the cheapest and the most of an aftermarket. I know the 5.0 had the largest and I believe the cheapest too. I remember being so jealous of those guys. Part for part I think the Buick stuff was 200% more expensive.

Yep, there are complete heads/cam/intake KITS available for them, SEVERAL in fact, from a variety of manufacturers. The Windsor likely has the largest aftermarket of any engine ever made now, surpassing even the venerable SBC.

There's a reason the Mustang has its own racing league, NMRA.
