OK, I tried searching through here and Google but couldn't find much info on this stuff.
GF's Accent needs a flush and since its not my car I decided to just stick with the Genuine Hyundai Coolant to be on the safe side. I know, I know, it's probably [censored] compared to newer coolant technologies. But like I said, not my vehicle, so I'd rather err on the side of caution and just flush it out consistently until I hear more feedback on people using something like G-05 (which I'd prefer to use).

Anyways, so when I went to the local dealer the usual parts guy was out to lunch or something so a couple nice ladies helped me instead. She brought out a gallon of Cam2, which I'd never heard of, so after looking it over I nicely said "Oh, this isn't like the picture here, which is what I was expecting" and she replied that's what they used but that she could see if they have the "Genuine" bottle. Which I appreciated and a few moments later she came back with the Hyundai-branded stuff. I asked if it was a different price and she said no, they're even the same part # in their system!

Now looking at the Cam2 site it sounds like pretty decent stuff.
http://www.cam2.com/products/Antifreeze/...Antifreeze.html
According to their product Bulletin: http://www.cam2.com/images/product_files/5957.pdf
It's a HOAT, 5yr/150k-miles Life, "will not cause turbidity, precipitation, or inhibitor effectiveness reduction when mixed with carboxylate based coolants such as Dex-Cool®* or Texaco®* Extended Life nor with conventional coolants such as Prestone®*, Zerex®*, or Peak®*", is borate & phospate free, and "is formulated with a stabilization system
to improve the durability of its carboxylate salt base and extend its range of compatibility with both conventional inorganic salts and OAT-type antifreezes"

Sorry about the long post, but any thoughts on this stuff? Maybe is it a Prestone or Peak clone? Wondering if I should have gone with that stuff instead now..

Yeah, that's the only major info that seemed to come up when Googling. Their "About Us" section makes it sound to me like everything but their oil products come from other suppliers. When I get a chance I'll try to poke around more. Not having the actual bottle in front of me tho makes it a bit harder to figure some things out. I don't even know what color the coolant was.

CAM2 is a Sunoco brand, at least it began as one.

The coolant she presented appears to be a G-05 clone - a HOAT.

The current Hyundai coolant is an Asian OAT, but the G-05 HOAT and its clones are about as close to a universal coolant as you can find.

Good call, that was my thought too because it said HOAT and did NOT state no silicates which is generally the first thing noted in the description of a universal all makes/models OAT coolant. CAM does make it a guessing game though with it's rather vague description.

I suppose G-05 would be ok being low silicate, but coming from a Hyundai dealer I wouldn't be especially pleased with that option. If I was to choose a universal AM/M OAT in place of the OEM P-HOAT, 2eha and silicate free Peak Global Lifetime would be my choice. Currently using it in a Tacoma. Just me.

This was kind of my thinking as well. At the time I couldn't remember if there were compatibility issues with the Phosphated-HOATs & Silicates or if Low Silicates were fine so long as you flushed out the majority of the old stuff...all I knew is that the safest bet was to stick with using Distilled water & the OEM coolant.

Was trying to compare & contrast the MSDS from Cam2 and others but it seems the Cam2 uses the data for their concentrate while other manufacturers such as Zerex specify their data with a 50/50 mix.

I did notice this list on the Cam2 antifreeze MSDS which might be helpful to some:
Wt. Percent Component Synonym CAS #
90 - 98 1,2-ethanediol Ethylene Glycol 107-21-1
0 - 5 Diethylene Glycol Not Available 111-46-6
0 - 0.50 Sodium Nitrite Not Available 7632-00-0
0 - 0.50 Proprietary Inhibitors Not Available Not Applicable
0 - 0.30 Triethanolamine Not Available 102-71-6
0 - 0.20 Sodium Benzoate Not Available 532-32-1
0 - 0.10 Sodium molybdate dihydrate Not Available 10102-40-6
