What if we add a tablet of tums into the sump half way into the oci, and would that neutralize the acid and get the TBN higher?

Just wonder, I'm not really going to do it to my car.
 
I understand where you are coming from, but these tablets are loaded with fillers that you probably wouldn't want in your crankcase.

It couldn't be worse than some of these Yo-yo's out there that have never changed their air filter and only change their oil every Election Year.

Although when I think of calcium carbonate I think of limestone and clay. I wouldn't want that very fine lapping compound anywhere near my engine.

Sure, it would help neutralize acids. The question is what else it would do. A pinch of finely ground Tums might dissolve well enough in oil to avoid doing damage, but not sure.

This post is for entertainment purposes only. Only fully trained idiots should attempt this, preferably by first testing it out in a bottle of oil outside the engine.
