cadillac deville 1976

Hi all,

I just purchased Cadillac Deville 1976 coupe yesterday, and I am wondering about how many litres of oil should I put. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/images/icons/default/question.gif

I am also wondering if do you recommend to use synthetic or conventional oil (5w30 or 10w30) since the car has only 88k miles.

I'd get 5 liters but start with 4 and don't overfill. I'd use a HM conventional like QS Defy 10W30.

Might want to consider a oil with a high Zink Content. I have seen some Cad 500/472
problems with Camshaft/Lifter wear with the SM oils.

Thanks but don't you think it is early to start using HM.

No, given the age of the seals. The Defy I recommend is also a SL oil so ZDDP is a little higher than current SN oils. Just my opinion.

Absolutely no need for a high ZDDP oil in this application.

The QS Defy would be fine if you'd like, but I would choose a 5W30.
