Pretty neat, huh? Considering the prices on prepackaged products, it's a great idea. Not to mention the potential for eliminating so many empty oil containers in the waste stream.

When I worked in a shell servo, they were just phasing out the decanting of bulk into those glass bottles with a built in funnel.

When we switched to plastic pre-filled containers, my boss offered me the racks and the glass bottles.

Stupidly, I said no.

I think it's somewhat circular.

Long OCIs, less oil sales, high fuel costs, expensive oil doesn't look so bad.

My brother's company expressly moved their utility vehicles to Mitsubishi, when Mitsubishi moved to 15,000km service intervals (Toyota diesels were still 5k).

15,000km servicing meant the vehicles were off the road 2-3 times per year, rather than 6-10 times...any potential reduction in life paled into lost productivity.
