My friend at work asked me, so im asking all of you. He has a somewhat built up ( Cams plus B-18 GSR Head ) and was asking me what i would run in it, I threw a few suggestions. also with the above listed mods what weight would you recomend ? he has a current fill of valv-syn 5-30. I know this does not belong in this are, but filter suggestions were brought up to.

let the suggestions begin

any good 5w30 will work well. synthetic or not as long as he changes it at the right intervals he wont have any issues with it.

this is what i told him as well, also suggested PP, and oem filters or pure-ones.
He does hot-dog the car at times and has been changing the oil at 2,000mi for peace of mind. I suggested stretching out the OCI'S as well. I explained (from my understanding of what i read on BITOG) the differences between ester based and Grp3 basestock oil's he's intrested in learning more about esters, and was especially intrested in weights. I think ive got him turned on to the site now :)

if he is gonna run that low oci then tell him to run conventional oil...

I suggested 5k oci's on his current syn and then do a used oil analysis, ( make him feel better ) then start adding miles with each change.
