broken window switch

car is a 2001 acura integra 2 door

the driverside window switch has been acting up lately and it finally died. help me narrow down the problem

-the master switch controls driver side and passenger side window, the side mirrors and the window lock for passenger side

ONLY the driverside window switch is broken, everything else works. I checked the driverside window switch fuse and its good.

I took the device out and manually move the switch and still does not work......this means the circuit board needs to be replaced?

the red circle is the driverside window switch, its the only one on that device that does not work.

I had mine in my 1999 Tacoma quit working. I went in and disassembled it and found corroded contacts....likely from occasional rainfall entering an open window.

I tore it down completely and cleaned up the contacts and wd-40'd it good, reassembled, and it's been fine for about five years or so.

I know yours is different but, should be the same principle.

Caution, little bitty parts inside!

I looked for cracks on the solder joints, but it was fine. its not soldered to the circuit board. the actual window switch sets off another switch built onto the circuit board.

i looked for corrosion but didnt look carefully...ill check again

The window works when you bypass the switch?

nope didnt work that way either(when i manually pushed the switch thats built onto the circuit board)

If you put 12v straight to the window motor does it work? In both directions?

Yep, "rebuilding" electrical switches is tedious but can be done. I'd add work on top of a pan or something to catch those tiny parts and go slow on the take-apart, so you can see how it goes back together.

got a new used switch and its working normally again!
